A New Testament-inspired project
Helping orphans, street children and those left behind by society. This project is part of a more general programme of good intentions: financial aid and other services for people in difficulty. It has the noble task of helping those in need: orphans, widows, street children…
This work is exalted and difficult because it involves financial aid and many other services for people in difficulty. The Son of Man, Jesus Christ, came to seek and save what was lost.
‘For I was hungry, and you gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and you welcomed me;
I was naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me!’
Then the righteous will answer him: ‘Lord, when did we see you? Were you hungry, and we fed you? Were you thirsty, and we gave you something to drink?
You were a stranger, and we welcomed you? You were naked and we clothed you ?
You were sick or in prison… When did we come to you?’
And the King will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you: whenever you did it to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me.’
Matthew 25, 35-40
In the Gospels, the Lord invites us to care for strangers, widows and orphans, prisoners, etc.
There are so many dramatic situations faced by the homeless, the badly housed, mothers, students, precarious workers and the elderly… Today, more and more men, women and children are living in very precarious conditions. The needs are there. We need to act. ‘Soup, soap, salvation, psychological, moral and spiritual support’.
Today more than ever, the Word of God invites us to respond to his call:
‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me shall never hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
The Bible invites us to care for the weakest in all their dimensions. May we be inspired by this desire to welcome and restore the Other, in soul and body.
With the ASSOCIATION the Children of ANAWIM YAHWEH (God’s poor), the love of God and his poor children urges us on.
‘He who loves others has perfectly fulfilled the law’ (Rom 13:8).
